Lucy & Dan’s Cave Castle Wedding…

After a few weeks off, my first wedding of 2013 took place in Sutton-on-Hull, with the reception at the stunning Cave Castle in South Cave.

The day started at Lucy’s parents house for the preparations, where Abbie Jackson from Marie Clare Hair and Nicki Ferguson were in charge of hair and makeup duties.  Once Lucy was in her dress, I moved on to St James Church just round the corner, to catch Dan’s final preparations for the ceremony and then awaited Lucy’s arrival.

Being told I’m allowed to take photographs from the front of the church throughout the ceremony is always music to my ears.  It’s such a shame when I’m relegated to the back of the church!

Mr & Mrs Fynn walked out of the church into glorious sunshine (I’d almost forgotten what that looked like) and after a few group shots, made their way over to Cave Castle to celebrate with their friends and family.

After arriving at the venue, I got everyone together (along with some expert help from Lucy & Dan’s master of ceremonies, Michael Wall) with a drink in their hand for a big group shot on the lawn outside.  I always try to find a spot high enough to be sure no one at the back is hiding out of view, and on the way up to the third floor, a member of staff recalls a photographer who, a few weeks ago, dropped their camera out of the same window!  After double checking my strap is secure, and with a big cheer from everyone, the shot is taken.

The rest of the day, as usual, involved no real intervention on my part.  Just lots of images of everyone enjoying themselves.  We did however venture onto the lawns around the castle for a few photographs of just Lucy & Dan on their own, which quickly resulted in them hijacking the golf course captains last shot, and an impromptu ‘bride & groom playing golf’ photo was swiftly taken!

After the wedding breakfast, speeches and cutting of the wedding cake (created by Lucy Beal Cakery) the evening guests arrived and Lucy & Dan had their first dance, before partying into the night.

Evening entertainment was provided by the excellent DJ Phil Calver from Chrysalis Discos, whom I’ve worked with on several occasions.  A Photo Booth was also supplied by Hello Foto Booths.

Congratulations to Lucy & Dan on their wedding!
